An illustrative example: AOL only has a relative handful
of IP addresses, certainly not enough to provide one address for each of their many
millions of subscribers. Therefore, if you have multiple visitors from AOL, the chances
are different users will appear to come from the same address, or that at different
times the same user would appear to have come from a different address. The same
thing would happen from any company that uses an address-translating firewall. In
the cases of companies that I have set up Internet security, all the users from behind
that firewall would appear from the outside world to have come from the same IP address. Don't
panic - it's normal.
