With all the academia
on the ICANN Board, they sure made a big mess of the TLD situation. They came
up with an almost worthless string of new TLDs, contributed to NSI's monopolistic
practices, created a huge legal mess with .BIZ, and arrogantly denied apparent conflicts
of interest with Ken Stubbs (and others), while filling Stubbs' pockets with .INFO
cash. Just thank them back at the office, Ken. Just as academia screwed
up the public school system in the US, it is also screwing up the public internet. This
is what happens when a small group of holier-than-thou, know-it-all, detached, legally
indemnified intellectuals are given free reign to control any type of system.
The ICANN board is too concerned with hiring people with tech expertise, instead
of common sense. The ICANN board is spiteful, self-serving, and not concerned
with a smooth operating internet. How Touton and Kraaijenbrink snaked their
way to positions of such power is history best not repeated.
