>Charge At-Large Members a minimal, monthly fee for their At-Large Membership.
I'd be happy to pay $10.00 USD each month. With 100,000 members, that's one
million dollars each month. < More like $10/year! I
think a million a year income is quite sufficient to fund ICANN's cost to admininster
the at-large, if done correctly. Since there were 158,000 registered members
and thousands more who did not get through, it would be more like $2 million.
>Now,
what do At-Large Members get in return? Voting power to choose all members
of ICANN's Board of Directors, voting power on policy, new domains, everything.<
Since
ICANN is supposed to be a "technical coordinating" body, there has to be a number
of directors with that background. However, I do believe that the majority
of the board should represent the wider community.
A good start would be to "elect"
the board and be rid of the squatters.
