Could anyone explain how the decision was made to select these five
regions, or rather to categorize the world into these particular regional divisions?
I am just curious ... are these UN divisions, U.S. Commerce Dept. groupings, ICANN
Board decisions, the way our prominent maps are organized, the obvious geographic
order of the earth, etc??? Why this selection and division? I just want
to know the background of the selection.
Europe; Asia/Australia/Pacific; Latin America/Caribbean islands; Africa; North
AmericaI surveyed the ICANN By-Laws for the answer myself, I have searched through
some early articles, and I looked at the U.S. DOC site, but I can not find an explanation. Thank
you.
