Dear Friends,My name is Sondlo Leonard Mhlaba.
I am an MITF/Africa Group member. I am writing to urge the Committee to keep
the Continent of Africa as one region. I fear that if Africa is joined with the Middle
East, the Continent will be unlikely to have direct representation.
Although our
MITF Task Group has put a great deal of effort to registering At-Large members from
Sub-Sahara Africa, our numbers remain very small. Access to computers continues
to be a major problem for our region. I feel that the ICANN board needs to
have a representative of this region on the board so that the peculiar issues and
struggles of the Continent can be articulated.
Although Sub-Sahara and North Africa
have differences, I don't believe that those differences are enough to require a
break-up of the Continent. My suggestion would be to have the whole Continent
as one region, and then move the Middle East to a segment of Asia or a segment of
Europe.
Sincerely,
Sondlo Leonard Mhlaba, PhD
