Dear ICANN,

 

I am writing to request respectfully that your organization take action
on the issuance of top level domain names.  This issue has become
reminiscent of Internet battles of the past that pitted visionaries
against special interests.  Every time such conflict has arisen the
policy decision has fallen on the side of the visionaries, and for that
the Internet has enabled enormous prosperity, particularly among small
businesses.  The boundaries of the Internet appear to be quickly
approaching as 70% of small businesses no longer can get their first
choice of domain name.  This can have an direct adverse impact on the
survival of businesses and their ability to sustain jobs.  

 

ICANN has undergone a lengthy and deliberative process for exploring the
possibilities of expanded top-level domains.  For that the organization
should be applauded.  But the DAG process cannot continue forever and I
hope that you will side once again with the visionaries and allow its
users to expand and realize our potential through its use.
