Concerning reliable timeline for gTLD-Applicants: Give it a chance to go now!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

 

 

the development perspectives for many regional businesses, administrations
and also private community-members which have been described in detail by
initiatives like dotBERLIN and other regional initiatives in the last four
years should not be hindered anymore: 

 

Give it a chance to go now!

 

It is meanwhile well known and uncovered in detail and described in
newspapers and expert-comments that there are very strong private interests
supported by particular lobbies who continuously obstruct the gTLD
application-process. These people do everything to disturb a positive
decision.

 

As long as the ICANN does not decide WHEN the process of application finally
will be set up, severe damage will occur to all local business and community
initiatives who have trusted in the ICANNs decision-process, which has been
delayed now several times for not really transparent or convincing reasons.
If the ICANN now - according the statement of Seoul - seriously does not
setup a reliable timeline or even better open directly the way for the
application, your organization might be seen and considered even close to
these doubtful influencers. The public media ask already whether the ICANN
is an independent organization acting according transparent rules and
reliable conventions. 

 

All the University teachers I've talked to concerning the ICANNs
Seoul-statement do believe, that the ICANN will lose credibility. What is
right and evident for the public interests should no longer be kept in the
fog of doubtful influences.

 

We urge ICANN to proceed with the introduction of new gTLDs. Arguments on
this topic have been articulated on plenty occasions by new gTLD prospects
and other members of the ICANN community.
