Review of sTLDs
Randy Glass
America@Large
In response to ICANN?s call for papers regarding input
on new gTLDs, I submit the following input.
ICANN has requested comment on the following two
questions; regarding .aero, .coop, and .museum.
1) None of the three domains has gotten more than 5%
of the registrations they projected in 2001. Is this a
problem?
This is simply a dynamic of the market. One can?t
force the market, rather the market reacts to
conditions. This should not be a problem for ICANN,
rather it may be a problem for the management agencies
/ registrar. This situation reverts to the situation
I?ve personally warned ICANN about many times in the
past (ex: www.aero resolves to aero.com).
2) Should these domains continue under the same
management? Under different management?
The current management should continue as long as they
and ICANN feel that it is appropriate.
We support Mr. Palage?s statements regarding Registry
Operator Transitions.
AmericaAtLarge, Inc. would like to volunteer to take
some role in ensuring smooth transitions from one
registrar to the next.
