Dear ICANN,
Please help the little engine that could. I think ICANN . . . I think
I can't reason why you need more staff. As I am sure work
overburdens those employed with ICANN now, I am also confused by the
redundancies in responsibility between the task forces/committees and
the new proposed positions, such as the Senior VP, Services position?
How do you justify exceeding the given number of regional Asia/Pacific
officers when each region only has 3?
How has ICANN sought every option of cutting costs of transportation?
Can you elaborate your media-relations budgeting plans without using
the loaded words, "outreach" and "communications"?--What will your
workshops focus on? How will they increase public awareness of ICANN?
What do you mean by IANA "robustness," or what kind of infrastucture
do you plan to improve for the organization?
What are the responsibilities of the Obmbudsperson?
How does "improving efficiciency and effectivenss of policy
development" require more than $1000? Do you need translators?
Software?
I support your endeavors in emergency preparedness and security, as
well as media promotions absolutely, though. My goal is not to be
rude. I only hope that this proposed budget assumes the position of
ICANN's further self-determination. Perhaps my nieveté of the
necessity of redundancies and the budgeting process offers valuable
questions to benefit the organization's development. And it is an
uphill battle--like that of the little engine that could: "I think
ICANN. I think ICANN."
Sincerely,
John W.
P.S. In all seriousness, thank you very much for doing a good job
coordinating the internet.
