FYI:
Public Security Ministry promotes cyber police
Chinanews, May 15 - Adopting the methods taken by the Shenzhen Municipal
Public Security Bureau, the Ministry of Public Security recently has set up
cyber policemen on the Internet in eight cities as trial bases. The methods
aim to supervise activities on the Internet, which will be part of the
comprehensive public security administration in society.
Faced with the irregularities emerging on the Internet, the Shenzhen
Municipal Public Security Bureau took the initiative in the country to
launch a "cyber policemen" program on the Internet. The cyber policemen will
patrol on the web and stop,
> punish, or send warnings to criminal activities such as online slander,
posting pornographic contents on website, or online gambling. The policemen
will also communicate with netizens to settle disputes and maintain social
stability. In addition, the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau also
sent "people" to guard at forum sections on the Internet, and set up police
boxes at some big portal websites.
At a national-level working meeting held by the Ministry of Public Security
on May 13 on managing the websites, eight cities across the country were
selected as trial bases that would learn from Shenzhen in its methods of
supervising internet activities.
Best,
SJR
