Jean you are right, this is total chaos. This workshop is certainly not
africa-specific and all the other statements are not clear either.
Bruce would you please take care of changing that?
Thank you.
Here, my proposal:
I think, that the info on "what it is" should also be clearer:
ICANN's At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) is responsible for providing
advice to ICANN concerning the interests of individual Internet users
(the "At-Large" community) and to buildup regional structures for
internet user's participation in ICANN policy making . In this workshop
we will discuss ALAC/RALO-working structures and RALO-bylaws to find
out which serve Internet users best to participate and have an impact on
ICANN policies.
/*Why it's important:*/
At-Large participation in ICANN is limited to the activities of the
Interim ALAC. Membership in the ALAC itself is in transition.This ALAC
working meeting will be discussing current progress towards
implementation of Regional At-Large Organizations, from which new ALAC
members will eventually be appointed. Does the RALO structure work in
every region? If it does not, what are the viable alternatives that best
serve Internet users and allow them to participate and have an impact on
ICANN policies.
/*Who Should Attend:*/
Anyone with an interest in individual user participation in ICANN.
best

The ICANN schedule http://icann.org/meetings/marrakech/ has some nice
new user-friendly guides to many meetings and why it's important, who
should attend, etc.
But the notes for our RALO discussion are confusing, makes it seem
like the Sunday RALO discussions are a formal PROGRAM rather than a
working meeting.
http://icann.org/meetings/marrakech/
It says
*ALAC RALO Workshop* (10:30-15:00) (TBD)
/*What it is:*/
ICANN's At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) is responsible for
considering and providing advice on the activities of ICANN, as they
relate to the interests of individual Internet users (the "At-Large"
community).
/*Why it's important:*/
The ALAC will explore key issues for Africa Internet users including
internationalized domain names(making domain names available in
character sets other than ASCII), the introduction of new generic top
level domain names in a manner that allows for global participation,
and organizing Internet users groups in Africa for more effective
participation in ICANN.
/*Who Should Attend:*/
Anyone with an interest in domain name issues that affect Internet users.
*Discussion on ALAC/RALO-working structures and RALO-bylaws which
serve Internet users best to participate and have an impact on ICANN
policies.
The "why it's important" is totally incorrect as is the Who Should
Attend. Shouldn't it be changed to something like::
/*What it is:*/
ICANN's At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC) is responsible for
considering and providing advice on the activities of ICANN, as they
relate to the interests of individual Internet users (the "At-Large"
community).
/*Why it's important:*/

/*Who Should Attend:*/
Anyone with an interest in individual user participation in ICANN.
Also, there isn't any explanatory info for the Weds meeting-- if we
want any, now is the time to add it.
*ALAC Latin America/Caribbean Islands RALO* (8:00-10:30) (ALAC meeting
room)
