While preparing the report for September, I have realized that I have never
finalized the previous report, for August.
Please accept my apologies, and find below the main points discussed by the
Board.
* Addressing
The Board has continued the discussion on the proposal for IPv6 allocation
policy received from the Address Council. The discussion went also over the
expectation for sub-allocation from RIRs downstream.
* ccTLDS
The discussion on the decision of Cameroon (.cm) to use a wildcard has
continued in August. Concern about this practice has been expressed,
although the use of the wildcard seemed to have been discontinued.
Involvment of the ccNSO has also been discussed, and generally retained as
important.
* Future meetings
The Board has started to discuss the preparation of a retreat to take place
at the end of October, and the modality and contents of ICANN participation
at the IGF in Athens. The Board has also taken note of the recent
information about the situation in Sao Paulo, but has estimated that the
security concerns are not such to suggest a change of plans. The community
shall be informed adequately about security advices to follow, should the
situation require this at the time the meeting will be held.
* GNSO report
The Board has received the report on the GNSO, produced by the LSE. A
discussion has taken place on the contents of the report and on
possibilities of improving the situation. No formal position has been taken
so far.
* gTLDs
The Board has continued the lively discussion on the draft Registry
Agreement for .biz, .info and .org. The debate has focused mostly on the
lifting of price caps in the contract. The Board has also noted that the
community was active in producing comments, and a report from the staff on
the comments is expected for the first meeting of next month. Upon request
by several concerned Board members, it has been clarified that this point is
still matter under decision.
* IANA
The Board has expressed satisfaction for the execution by the US DoC of a
new contract with ICANN to continue to perform the IANA function. Some
discussion has taken place on specific elements of the contract.
Please check also the preliminary report of the August teleconference at

Best regards,
Roberto Gaetano
