Dear Chris,

It is my pleasure to announce that the At Large Advisory Committee today
elected Siavash Shahshahani as its liaison to the ccNSO. Please add
Professor Shahshahani to the relevant ccNSO mailing lists and include him in
your ongoing work (shahshah@xxxxxxxx). Having worked with Professor
Shahshahani over the last year, I know you will find him an engaging and
thoughtful contributor to your work. 

Professor Shahshahani has been involved with efforts to develop Internet in
Iran from its very beginning there. He was the Deputy Director of IPM (the
Institute for Studies in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics) when that
Institute pioneered the introduction of Internet in Iran in 1994. Later he
served as the head of IRANET (IRanian Academic NETwork), the networking arm
of IPM. He is presently the director of IRNIC, .IR ccTLD Registry. Professor
Shahshahani holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of California,
Berkeley, and has been on the faculty of Sharif University of Technology,
Tehran since 1974.

As the non-voting Chair for today's election, I would like to provide the
following report to the ALAC members and other interested members of the
larger RALO, ALS, and At Large communities. 

Fifteen ALAC members were eligible to vote for ALAC officers. Fourteen
expressed an intention to vote, with one member unavailable. I enlisted
George Sadowsky to assist me, and together we counted and verified fourteen
written ballots for three contested positions. Other officers for
uncontested positions were elected by acclamation. 

I am pleased to announce the ALAC Officers for the coming year. Each officer
will serve until the close of ICANN's annual meeting in 2007.
