Thank you very much for addressing some of my concerns about the Fellowship
selection committee, much appreciated.
In relation with point 2.d."Membership is at the invitation of ICANN staff."
see:
http://www.icann.org/en/fellowships/fellowship-committee.htm
For transparency purposes there should be a regular open call for
applications to serving on this selection committee (for example like the
one that is used for Noncom chair and members), and a procedure for
selecting members should be developed and published on the ICANN web page.
Also considering the relevance that the Fellowship process has for outreach
to the community, my suggestion is that membership of the selection
committee should be broader, considering the representation of all
stakeholders of the ICANN community, taking in consideration regional
diversity and gender diversity.
The amount of work involved in the selection process described in point 8
seems to be quite heavy. Having a selection committee with more members
could help balancing what seems to be a high work load for five members.
Thanks for considering my comments.
