Hello,
There are two major issues with Public Participation that occur at times:
1) As ICANN is not so well known outside the ICANN / Internet community,
most of the public participation isn't quite public participation, but
happens to be participation of interest groups in public forums and in the
public web space.
2) 'Public' do participate, raise questions, make comments and suggestions,
but how all the inputs are processed sometimes become subjective. Not all
inputs are treated equally. The systems are so inadequate that powerful
interests can find ways to brush aside people and opinions.
This is not a generalization of all public participation in ICANN, but these
inadequacies also exist in ICANN public participation.
