Re: [bc-gnso] BC position on competition, trust, choice v1
Thanks again to Philip for his initial draft. The attached markup builds on Philip's work in proposing these definitions: Proposed definition for Competition in the context of the DNS and new gTLDs: Competition is the availability of multiple suitable TLDs where registrants may seek their desired domain name at reasonable prices and terms. Proposed definition for Consumer Trust in the context of the DNS and new gTLDs: Consumer Trust is the perceived integrity of domain name registrations such that Internet users have confidence that a domain name is held to the advertised purpose and standards of the TLD operator. Proposed definition for Consumer Choice in the context of the DNS and new gTLDs: Consumer Choice is the availability of TLDs that offer competing propositions as the purpose and integrity of their domain name registrants. -- Steve DelBianco Executive Director NetChoice http://www.NetChoice.org and http://blog.netchoice.org +1.202.420.7482 Attachment:
