To the ICANN Board:
I do not understand why you are proposing such a radical change
for domain names. It makes NO sense!
As a small business owner who works very hard
to build my domains AND to serve the public and
produce a profit It would be unconscionable to
add another financial burden to my business.
Taxes in various forms from various entities are
already a disincentive to expand and this looks like you are
proposing another. The standards and rules
by which such fees or taxes are implemented
are bound to be difficult to make fair and are often
capricious in nature. Who decides and on what
basis are the renewal fees going to be based?
Because of the international nature of the Internet
and use of domains it would be very easy to cause
undo burden on many who could not afford such
variable renewals and cause an arbitrary and unfair
application of such rules.
This will create a financially devasting impact on the
business models of millions of domain and web site owners
worldwide.
I am firmly opposed to the variable pricing of domain names
by the .biz registry.
Thus, I respectfully request that you reconsider and reconstruct
the contracts and remove this no price caps clause completely.
