If I¹m reading this correctly, the proposed changes to the ICANN rules
regarding domain registration pricing could wreak havoc on those of us who
have built businesses that rely on registering many domain names. It is the
equivalent of removing rent control and watching landlords suddenly force up
the rents on all their existing tenants, thereby forcing them to lose their
homes and destroy their lives.
Many people register hundreds and even thousands of domains per year, and
they do so because they know they can earn a good return on that investment.
But if the prices are allowed to be ³whatever the market will bear² then we
could see major gouging take place, and it could force a lot of people out
of business.
The current system is working fine, I see not rational reason to change it.
³If it ain¹t broke...²
