Summary of public comments for Board Review terms of reference

 

October 2007

 

 

 

Background

 

The principle of ongoing review of ICANN's structures is embedded in the
organisation's bylaws, and that includes review of the Board itself. That
process is due to start soon but before the review itself happens, the terms
of reference for that review are drawn up and put out for public comment.

 

The terms of reference for the Board itself have now been drawn up and this
comment period was an opportunity for the ICANN community to provide
feedback on them. In total, one relevant comment was received.

 

This analysis attempts to summarize the relevant comments from the online
forum

Where possible and practical, individual comments have been attributed to
individuals or organizations by attaching initials to the comments.  A key
to the initials used can be found at the end.

 

 

General comments

 

The commenter queried where having the Board reviewed by the GNSO i.e. by
one of ICANN's own supporting organisations could be viewed as an
independent review [JW].
