For what it is worth, I support the .cat WHOIS changes as proposed. Like
mentioned by AFNIC, this will reinforce the confidence of private
persons in the WHOIS system, knowning their personal data will be
protected from scammers, spammers, as well as other parties who wish to
bypass due legal processes and harass registrants directly.

It would be most welcome if ICANN could set up in future gTLD registry
agreements provisions that would deal with such matters, without having
to go through comments and approvals. This is just of matter of a
registry having to comply with law. There is no discussion needed.
Upcoming EU legislation on privacy will most probably extend those
privacy rules to operators outside the EU. Hence, a lighter, faster
mechanism is needed to take those changes into account. A simple
notification by the registry should be sufficient. This is a purely
clerical matter, not one of policy.

Respectfully submitted
