rejected.<br>

1: Given the potential number of generic words in all of
earths languages, the clutter and international management
would be significant.<br>
2: gTLD's are contradictory to the well established
hierarchical structure of URL's.<br>
3: gTLD's would give rise to copyright, competition and
trademark legal action as corporations grabbed market
identifiers which were not their exclusive property.<br>
4: Descriptive granularity of a URL is already catered for by
the use of lower level sub-domains.</font><br>
