To Whom It May Concern:
As a Fellowship Alumni I fully support the Projected FY17 Improvements to
the ICANN Fellowship Program Application Process.
I think not limiting the program to less developed countries is really
important since countries may go through different circumstances in time,
and Fellows from those countries should not be left outside the program. In
my personal experience, a situation like this kept me out of the program
for my second meeting as a fellow, and something like that may break the
momentum for someone in his first experience.
I see as another positive change the inclusion of gender and sector in the
selection criteria. It is a great signal that the program is taking into
account these aspects on balancing participation.
Finally, giving priority to alumni who can state specific objectives for
the meeting they are applying and demonstrate their involvement in
activities within ICANN’s Multistakeholder community and/or significant
engagement and/or global Internet governance work, seems to be the correct
way to acknowledge their work and also a way to harvest the program
investments and invert again for that results to grow.
Sincerely,
