Thanks for the opportunity to comment on proposed revisions in criteria for
the ICANN fellowship.
I support broadening eligibility to deserving candidates in all regions.
There are many underserved communities in supposedly more affluent regions.
A few other points, and some questions:
-If likelihood of a visa will not be considered, perhaps 'current visa(s)
held' should be removed from the application form.
- In the revised criteria, I think it should be stated - it's implicitly
clear - that the criteria grouped together in section 4 are "or", not "and"
conditions.
-The last criterion in section 4 : "is an End User (not affiliated with a
civil society organization) and/or an individual member of a Regional At-
Large Organization"
seems to open it up to basically anybody, in a group or not. Did I read
that right?
- (page 6) This seems to say English is a requirement - should it be?
(I'm anglophone but I don't want to assume this has to be a requirement)
- (page 9) "Well prepared Applicant who lives in the same region where the
ICANN meeting is being held"
Is this a requirement or a bonus point for an applicant ?
- Finally, I understand that this program has an age cut-off. I think this
should be removed.
