In regards to the changes in the fellowship program. I endorse the
changes for the fellowship program to expand it's selection process to
the underserved communities know as Indigenous/First Nations/Natives and
in the United States as Indians. Many of the Indigenous tribal
governments have incomes similar to the orginal guidelines used by the
fellowship committee ( World Bank information), unfortunately the past
process used Canadian and US incomes as a whole which has discriminated
aganist very poor tribal reservation.
This historical error which has not included them can be rectified by
inclusion of this group
As an active ICANN participate, NARALO Chair, Vice Chair for ALAC
Outreach and Engagement I have observed the great achievements of past
Fellows and NetGen to become ALAC members and leaders. Noteworthy are
Siranush Vardayan, Maureen Hilyard, Seun Ojedji ,Tijani Ben Jemaa,
Fatima Cambronero, Leon Sanchez and others have become leaders in
LACRALO, AFRALO, APRALO . I am confident that the inclusive of
Indigenous members we will see similar participation and active
leadership participation . Since NARALO has been supportive of their
inclusion we are committed to providing onboarding support and mentoring
of the selectees.
