ARI Registry Services thanks ICANN for the opportunity to comment on the LGR
Tool Project.
With respect to point 2 of section 5 – Non-functional requirements which states
that:
“The system should be developed using the Python programming language,
which can be licensed with open source license. The system must not
contain any third party code which prevents it from release with
licensing requirements stipulated”
ARI Registry Services believes that whilst the use of Python may be beneficial,
dictating its use and restricting the system to Python is not in the interests
of the community. Instead ARI Registry Services recommends restricting the
system to an open sourced interpreted language. In addition, the system’s code
should be provided under an Open Source license to enable all community members
to make use of and contribute to the tool.
