Domain names should NOT be appropriated by IGOs
Carving out "special exceptions" for IGOs and INGOs, as the Draft labels them has the potential to undermine the most basic of internet property rights, that is to have one's "home" (which is what a domain name is, for all intents and purposes) stolen from the legitimate owner, and given to any IGO or INGO who makes even the flimsiest of claims that the name in some form resembles theirs, even including acronyms. This absurd proposal should never have seen the light of day. Please send it back to the darkness from which it spawned. Basic property rights must be given appropriate deference for the stability of the web. Regards, Patrick Quinn Allegheny Internet, LLC |
