The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International
Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) note the GNSO Working
Group's Initial Report of 14 June 2013 (Initial Report) and take this
opportunity to thank all members of the Working Group (WG) for their continued
engagement. The ICRC and the IFRC, along with the National Red Cross and Red
Crescent Societies, which form part of the International Red Cross and Red
Crescent Movement (Movement), have been actively engaged in the efforts of the
WG and have provided regular comments at the different stages of the WG's
deliberations, as noted in paragraph 5.4 of the Initial Report.

The ICRC and the IFRC endorse fully the comments on the Initial Report
submitted by the National Societies on 4 July 2013. We wish once again to draw
the attention of the WG to the Movement's remaining requests for protection as
detailed in our previous submissions to the WG, as well as to the ICANN Board.

The ICRC and the IFRC remain at the disposal of the WG and of the ICANN Board
to provide any further information concerning the implementation of the
protections accorded to the Red Cross and Red Crescent designations ("red
cross", "red crescent", "red crystal" and "red lion and sun") and related names
under international humanitarian law and the national laws in force in multiple
jurisdictions.
