Concerned about domain privacy.

Dear ICANN,
I have great concern regarding the proposed rule changes governing companies
that provide WHOIS privacy services, as set forth in the Privacy and Policy
Services Accreditation Issues Policy document. As a domain owner, and operator
of my own web services, I have fear these rules can be easily
abused/circumvented to push providers into revealing private information even
for those of us who are not “Commercial” interests. Being a longtime member of
the internet community (and even a one-time member of the ICANN member-at-large
body), I do not want to return to the days of non-private whois data. This
data is too easily abused for legal harassment, security attacks, and spam
campaigns.
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
Let us keep our privacy.
Sincerely,
David Cafaro
