Dear ICANN –
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS
privacy services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services
Accreditation Issues Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court
order, regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual
or law enforcement agency.
Private information should be kept private.
I am the servant leader of a women's religious organization, the
Community of Saint Anna, affiliated with the Monastery of the Heart,
which is a program spearheaded by Sr. Joan Chittister.
You might be surprised how much hate mail I get already from people who
hate liberals or feminists, without knowing any information about who I
am or what I believe. It has become frightening at times - all because I
organize a group of women who pray for anyone who asks without judgment.
I can only imagine what I might get if people could actually find my home.
Please keep the WHOIS information confidential.
Thank you for considering this request.
Kind regards,
Anna Jane
