ICANN - Russ Guthrie Says Respect Our Privacy

Dear ICANN - 

Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation
Issues Policy document):

I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process. 
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy. 
- No one's personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
- Do not allow socialist principles to guide you. In a democracy, personal
and private information should be just that - absent a court order. 

Frankly, I'm not sure how it came about that an organization like yours can
be in the position of so much control over so many people. 

But one thing's for sure: this ISN'T an Orwellian novel. This is a
constitutional democracy! You MUST respect and honor the privacy of the
individual! 

And on a case by case basis, the COURTS will decide when and how to revoke
that innate right, not you.

Anything less is socialism, period.
