Dear ICANN –
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation
Issues Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
I run a small business site, and the idea that my home address and personal
info would be out there for the world to see is extremely frightening to
me. What happens the first time someone decides they want to affect my life
negatively? With a home address the name, all privacy is suddenly gone,
opening website owners up to a world of harassment and abuse. I honestly
can't even believe you are considering such a thing...
Private information should be kept private. Thank you!
