Dear ICANN –
While WHOIS' originally served a great service during the embryonic
days of the Internet, when system administrators needed the ability to
contact the system administrators of foreign networks, it's now a
relic of the Internet and should not be enforced.
Privacy is difficult enough these days without an open database of
contact information posted for every domain owner on the planet. We
don't need to give spammers and other bad actors fully automation
accessible databases of our contact information.
There's already a good, solid process in place to allow courts of law
to access the information when necessary. There is no need to enforce
WHOIS data.
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
