ICANN - Austin Holt Says Respect Our Privacy

Dear ICANN –

Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation
Issues Policy document):

Private information helps protect small businesses from spam and fishing
attacks, which saves countless resources that directly impact the economy,
but even more so privacy effects the lives of those living in oppressive
regimes that do not hesitate to kill those that oppose them. Eliminating,
or making it more difficult, for anyone to remain private comes with a huge
cost that would be criminal to ask us to pay the price for.

I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
