ICANN,
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation Issues
Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
As we have seen all too much online recently. Private information should be
kept private. It's vital that otherwise marginalized voices be allowed to
commercially own domains without having to reveal personal information that
could allow those who wish them harm to attack them.
In fact, I urge you to allow people to register a domain without being required
to provide an address at all. This would go a long way to enabling the internet
to flower as the diverse place it should be.
Regards,
