Dear ICANN –
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation
Issues Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
Respect my privacy and my right to privacy. This is a legal right in
Australia. Respect my legal protections please. I have had death threats
and crazy people harass me for daring to be female online. If you display
my personal, private information, I will be forced to shut down my websites
to avoid a harassment campaign by unhinged people. Don't make it easy for
them to find me.
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
Jodie McPhee
