Dear ICANN -
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation
Issues Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one's personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
There should not be public access to this information. Why would ICANN have
more right than the UK government? The UK electoral roll containing private
information of UK residents is allowed to be confidential yet small business
owners MUST share their personal home address with the internet world in
order to purchase a domain. This is a terrible invasion into someone's
privacy. This regulation must NOT be introduced.
Private information should be kept private.
Regards
Ms K Crone
