Dear ICANN –
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS
privacy services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services
Accreditation Issues Policy document):
I urge you to go even further and ban all privacy and proxy services.
There is no valid reason for someone to hide their identity. The
argument for political speech doesn't make sense. There are many ways to
speak and remain anonymous. But if you want to buy real estate you have
to publicly disclose who you are. It should be the same with domains.
Everyone deserves the right to privacy but not when they set up shop and
start inviting the general public in - either in the physical world or
the virtual world.
