Dear ICANN –
My name is Josh Makar and I do not want anyone to retrieve mine or anyone
else's personal information without a warrant. Our privacy should remain
protected from individuals, corporations, and government officials who
attempt to access personal information without reason and a warrant.
Neither of the aforementioned entities maintain a clean track record of
honesty. With the lines between government and corporation blurred, there
is no way to trust either with our information, especially when it seems
the almighty dollar is priority one.
Additionally -
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation
Issues Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
