Hello,
After recently reading about the proposed changes by the entertainment
industry to proxy registration services, I thought I would offer my
comments.
For the last seven years, I have run a online video gaming community.
During that time, I have received countless threats to myself (to include
half a dozen actual death threats). Having my personal information easily
accessible by anyone would put me and my family at an unacceptable risk,
and would likely force me to shut down my long-running service.
...and I'm sure I'm not alone.
I urge you to maintain the current system which requires court authority to
reveal personal information. Anything less, and you are willingly putting
people in harms way simply for the sake of the entertainments industry's
"ease of use".
Due process exists for a reason - for the protection of a country's
citizens. No corporation(s) should be allowed to strip that from us,
regardless of potential profit.
Thank you.
