Dear ICANN,
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation Issues
Policy document):
It is very important that we continue to respect internet users' rights to
privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
- Though it might be difficult to enforce, it seems clear that the United
States is no different from other countries in its need for privacy, and that
this privacy should extend to all countries around the world.
Private information should be kept private. Otherwise, we’ll find ourselves
living in a scary dystopian world where nobody is safe, and where we all must
think about how every action we take could be interpreted years in the future.
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Jordan
