Dear ICANN –
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation Issues
Policy document):
The world needs entrepreneurs to create jobs and grow the economy. Please do
not make it harder for moonlighters to start businesses. A growing economy
will also help ICANN and existing businesses.
Open Whois access will also make it harder to keep trade secrets. If a
university professor starts a stealth startup, the whoIs info will give away
the professor's identity which in turn reveals their research area and that
says a lot about the likely technology (trade secret) behind the startup.
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
