Dear ICANN –
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation
Issues Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
I make fine jewelry and sell it on the internet. My customer is protected
by paying with a credit card, which allows a reversal of charges.
I maintain a low profile by never sharing my personal information. A jewel
theft increases the risk of injury to me and my family.
If you release personal information on the internet, one result will be a
significant increase the use of guns to defend against criminal intent.
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
