To Whom In May Concern,
I write in reference to ICANN's proposed changes that includes the removal of
WHOIS privacy protections.
As an individual with a small online presence, I find it frightening that ICANN
is considering making it mandatory that my personal information be made
publicly available including my residential address.
As a very small business, I meet clients at their work place and do not want
clients to be able to attend my home address at any time. I also do not want
people being able to obtain my private information, search for me online or in
whitepages and contacting me on my private home phone line.
Additionally, from a privacy perspective, identity theft and online fraud is
becoming an ever increasing issue, and by enforcing more personal information
to be available so freely online provides more opportunities for these thieves.
There is small minority that do not do the right thing and these proposed
changes to be implemented have a greater effect on those who do the right
thing.
I do not agree with the changes and ask that you reconsider and do not approve.
RegardsEK
