Dear ICANN,
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation
Issues Policy document):
As a single woman business owner, the WHOIS privacy services provide a key
element in allowing me to operate in the public and have a sense of safety
in a world that plays fast and loose with giving feedback or condemning
others in every way possible--from online to in-person. My intention is not
to operate above the law but to enjoy one of the few protections offered,
such as WHOIS.
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to privacy.
- No one's personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
Private information should be kept private. Thank you.
