Dear ICANN,

The ability to have the
internet be open to anyone is what makes it such a powerful tool for anyone in
the world to be heard. Often privacy is needed to ensure free speech or
publishing without fear of retribution.

Please keep WHOIS
registration details private. Small businesses don't need disgruntled customers
finding their personal details and harassing or spamming store owners. Opening
up WHOIS information will only help spammers.

Regarding the proposed rules
governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy services :

I urge you to respect
internet users' rights to privacy and due process.

- Everyone deserves the right to
privacy.

- No one’s personal information
should be revealed without a court order, regardless of whether the request
comes from a private individual or law enforcement agency.

Private information should be
kept private.

Thank you.

Jonathan
