Dear ICANN
Regarding the proposed rules governing companies that provide WHOIS privacy
services (as set forth in the Privacy and Policy Services Accreditation Issues
Policy document):
I urge you to respect internet users' rights to privacy and due process.
- Everyone deserves the right to protect Information as they see fit.
- No one’s personal information should be revealed without a court order,
regardless of whether the request comes from a private individual or law
enforcement agency.
I hope that you will give this especial consideration given that whois data is
one of the easiest source of weaponry for "doxxerrs", who use the victims'
address Information to pull vicious pranks. This and other legitimate reasons
for privacy -- even in the case of commercial entities -- means that private
information should be kept private, especially on the Internet.
Thank you.
