I'm sure we strongly share an appreciation of the crucial importance of DNSSEC for achieving ICANN's SSR goals for the world-wide Internet. I admire the thoughtful planning and vigorous efforts ICANN has put into its SSR Framework. What I didn't observe in reading the document was explicit recognition, appreciation, or elaboration of the expanded security benefits that can be achieved by leveraging the global chain of trust established by DNSSEC. I believe some of these benefits might be of high interest for further strengthening your SSR objectives. Recently we were invited to submit comments to NIST on strengthening the security of the cyber infrastructure. Secure64's brief submission outlined some of the beneficial results of leveraging the DNSSEC chain of trust. We also suggested a possible series of DNSSEC-based steps for realizing such security extensions for the cyber infrastructure. FYI, I have attached a copy of this short submission to NIST. (It also is included in the submitted comments on NIST's web site.) If you have interest in Secure64's thoughts and efforts in these directions, we would welcome the opportunity to engage in further discussions. Best wishes, Bill CTO Secure64 Software Corp 5600 South Quebec Street Suite 320D Greenwood Village, CO 80111-2228 Phone: 303-693-8922 Attachment:
