SSAC Comment on the FY14 Community Travel Support Guidelines 29 March 2013
I hereby submit below and attached a Comment from the SSAC. Best regards, Julie Hedlund, Director SSAC Support SSAC Comment on the FY14 Community Travel Support Guidelines The Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) thanks ICANN for this opportunity to comment on the FY14 Community Travel Support Guidelines. After reviewing the Guidelines, the SSAC would like to bring to ICANN’s attention an inconsistency in the document. In particular, on page 4 in Section 3 Travel Rules Per Group, the SSAC notes that the rules are not consistent for the groups that receive travel funding (excluding the ASO and RSSAC who have traditionally declined funding). For example, the descriptions for At-Large, GNSO, ccNSO, and GAC include specifics concerning the costs to include air travel, lodging, and a per diem amount for each city. The At-Large, GNSO, and ccNSO also indicate that funded travelers will receive all travel at economy class, except for the chair who is eligible to receive all travel at business class. The GAC description omits these latter details, and the SSAC description omits all of the details concerning costs and level of travel funding. Since all groups will be expected to follow the Travel Support Guidelines, the SSAC suggests that the descriptions should be consistent and contain the same information, highlighting any exceptions that may exist. Thank you again for the opportunity to review this important document. Attachment:
