To the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers:
If I look in the past I cannot believe that ICANN is still in the
process of the introduction of new top level domains. As I understand
the role and importance of ICANN I have always been in full support and
understanding of this organisation.
I see the role of ICANN as very important - for the future development
of the internet and therefore for the world as a whole.
What I do not understand is the ongoing discussions of new top level
domains. Of course trademark holders are against this - and they all
have been heard. However, to my understanding, the vast internet
community thinks it would benefit consumers and the internet as a whole.
New top level domains are the next step ICANN must do to bring the
internet further. Especially geogrphical TLDs will help to give local
orientated entities a place within the internet. To me it is a logical
next step. So please ICANN, stop discussing, stop doing more and more
studies. Just go with the EOI and help to make new top level domains
accessible for consumers in 2011.
I appreciate your work. Thank You for letting me comment.
Kind Regards,
Fabian Schilcher
