Dear all,

As promised, below is a short summary of the administrative task force
meeting held during the Marrakech meeting.

Whois TF administrative meeting, 26 June 2006

The meeting was an administrative/planning meeting to formulate timelines
for ongoing work and also to prepare for presentations on Whois to the GAC
and the GNSO public forum.

The task force is not likely to hold a physical meeting, but will continue
to work by phone and email.

It was agreed that the task force build into its timelines some public
comment periods that are longer than 20 days. Comment periods of up to 45
days were suggested. This would help other parties provide input to the
work. It was also agreed that outreach is at least as important as the time
period of public comments, and that task force reports in public comment
period be accompanied by commentaries identifying areas of disagreement (and
strong need for input). Targeting specific groups like the SSAC and
identifying security issues in it for them was one suggestion.

It was agreed to present a final task force report to the GNSO Council by
the December ICANN meeting in Sao Paulo. To achieve this, the task force
needs to complete its work on the preliminary report in the first half of
October in order to provide sufficient time for public comments. Following
public comments, the task force will work to reconsider (if appropriate)
those comments and see if changes are required to the final report. To
consider it at the Sao Paulo meeting, the GNSO Council will need to receive
the final task force report by 22 November, 2006.
